PROFIBUS - Getting the Message Through < Top

PROFIBUS South East Asia is conducting a series of two-day seminars throughout the region in the coming months, which is focused on PROFIBUS in the Process Industry.

Take this opportunity to join us to learn about how the unique advantages of PROFIBUS can be harnesses to benefit you in your next project.

The two-day seminars cover topics from the basic concepts of digital bus technology, through the different application methods of PROFIBUS, to practical considerations on planning, installing and using PROFIBUS-based control systems.

The various arguments are underpinned by multi vendor live demo. Multi-vendor demo will be used to show live, how Process Control Systems and SCADA systems communicate with field devices for temperature, pressure, fill levels, analyses, flow and Remote-I/O.

Workshop key issues
• Installation Guidelines
• Installation Diagnostics
• Safety Fieldbus
• Asset Management

Details on workshop topics < Top

a) Installation Guidelines:
This Workshop is for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation to gain competence in the layout and installation of PROFIBUS networks. Covering bus layout and termination, Ex installation like FISCO, grounding rules and practices, the workshop teaches delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

b)Installation Diagnostics:
The power distribution needs to be properly calculated using available software packages, and the voltage on the segment is an important criteria for the health of the segment. The quality is determined by amplitude, noise, jitter, signal balance (isolation from ground), and communication parameters such as retries, that can give valuable information about interoperability issues. This workshop will explain communication parameters that determine the health of your network, and will introduce new, powerful tools from different manufacturers that enable you to monitor these parameters as well as pinpoint you to potential problem spots.

c)Safety Fieldbus:
This workshop will explore the benefits of using Profisafe SIL3 Safety Fieldbus technology. Safety Fieldbus allows for more flexible safety system architectures, higher availability and also direct connection to field devices supporting Profisafe installed using fault tolerant PA ring reducing the need for expensive safety system I/O. Applications such as Partial Stroke Testing of shutdown valves can be greatly simplified using this new technology.

d)Asset Management:
Asset Management Information comes from three different files provided with PROFIBUS Technology: ● GSD Files (Configuration Files) specify the communication between the master and slave devices. ● FDT/DTM (Field Device Too/ Device Type Manager) is a standardised PROFIBUS interface specification that allows the integration of intelligent devices into, for example, asset management and process control systems ● EDDL (Electronic Device Description Language) is the IEC based integration of intelligent devices concept for showing asset management information. In this workshop we take you through the whole process of network configuration starting device integration up to asset management. You will see all the benefits this technology can provide you.
